Girl (23) Marries Homeless Man – Guests At Wedding Laugh Until He Reveals His Wedding Gift

Jane had always been the life of the party. She was cheerful and bubbly, and everyone loved her. So when she brought home a homeless man, Tom, her friends and family were shocked. They laughed behind her back, wondering what she could possibly see in him.

As they sat in Jane’s living room, her mother looked around her, judging every inch. Jane, who didn’t even want to be in the same room as her mother, tried not to think about it, and cut right to the case. “So, I think it is time you two finally hear why Tom and I got married.”

After a while, when they found out why they were together, they fell silent. No one saw this coming…

Falling silent

She looked at her husband and held his hand. It wasn’t an easy story to tell, especially not to tell to the people who had been judging you for years and years. Jane’s parents immediately burst into tears as they listened to Tom. They looked at each other in shame, knowing they had made a big mistake.

Jane’s parents couldn’t believe what they were hearing. How could their daughter keep a secret like this from them? They felt embarrassed and begged her for forgiveness, but it was already too late. But what was the real reason Jane and Tom married? Why didn’t her parents know about it? And why wouldn’t she forgive them?

A wedding invitation

Jane’s parents were shocked, to say the least when a wedding invitation showed up on their doorstep. It was from their youngest daughter, Jane, who had been living in another state for the past three years or so. They hadn’t spoken in a long time, and clearly, they had missed a lot.

They excitedly called Jane to let her know they were coming and expressed how happy they were for her and her soon-to-be husband, Tom. They told her they would be coming a few days early, to help them prepare for their big day. Little did they know, that Jane was keeping a big secret from them.

Flying to Jane

As the wedding day approached, Jane’s parents packed their bags and flew to their daughter. They greeted Tom with much love and even gave him a present. But things soon took a turn when they began to ask him all sorts of questions on their way to Jane and Tom’s home. Jane’s parents were ecstatic to finally meet the man that their daughter was going to marry. They had heard nothing but wonderful things about Tom from Jane and were eager to get to know him better.

As they settled into their seats on the plane, they couldn’t help but gush about how beautiful the wedding was going to be and how happy they were for Jane. Once they arrived at Jane and Tom’s home, they were greeted by Jane and Tom who, although seemingly nervous, appeared just to be as eager to meet them.

Confronting Tom

They asked Tom about his job and about his life before Jane. As soon as they noticed him struggling with the answers, they knew something was up. Jane’s mother was never one to shy away from confrontations, so she kept on pushing until Tom finally revealed the truth. Tom could feel his heart racing as he stumbled over his words.

He had been dreading this moment since he first met Jane’s parents. They were a tight-knit family and he knew how important their approval was to her. He had been trying his best to sweep his past under the rug, hoping it wouldn’t resurface. But now, under the intense gaze of Jane’s parents, he couldn’t keep up the façade any longer. They had always been protective of their daughter and he was sure his admission was going to prove controversial.

Judging him

“I was living on the streets when I met Jane,” he eventually said. Jane could see the disgusted look on her parent’s faces as Tom’s words sunk in. “You are homeless?” her mother asked with the worst, most judgmental tone possible. “Yes, I was. But now I live with Jane, as we’re getting married.” Luckily, their conversation got interrupted as they arrived at the house, but Jane knew the rest of her parent’s stay would be nothing but horrible.

Every moment she had alone with her mother, she did her best to talk her out of marrying Tom. But nothing worked. Jane loved him, no matter his background. It eventually got so bad, that Jane decided to send her parents home the day before the wedding. She didn’t want them there to ruin what should be the best day of her life. Her parents were hurt, especially her father, who wasn’t actually acting as badly as Jane’s mother.

Cutting her off

Months passed, and Jane and Tom were enjoying their married life. Tom had moved into Jane’s house, as he had none of his own, and Jane was trying to help him find a job. Suddenly, Jane got a text message from her mother, who she hadn’t spoken to since she had sent them away. “Dear Jane, since you made it so clear to me you didn’t want to be a part of our family any more, we have taken you out of our will. You have made your choice to marry a homeless man, many years older than you.”

“We, your father and I, don’t support your decision and are afraid he is only using you to get to our money.” Jane couldn’t believe it. Tears streamed down her face by the time she was done reading, and she couldn’t be calmed down no matter how hard Tom tried. It pained him to see his wife so heartbroken, and it made him feel guilty. Was this all his fault? If only they knew the truth…

A good reason

Jane had a very good reason to marry Tom, but since her parents had decided to cut her off, she decided they would never know the truth. She needed months to recover from her heartbreak, and it put a strain on her marriage. Luckily, their love was stronger, and they made it through. Jane had always been close with her parents, so when they found out she was getting married, she was ecstatic to let them know and have them share in the celebration.

Her parents had always been the ones to guide her through life, but this time, she was ready to take the lead and show them how happy she was with her decision. She knew that once they met Tom, they would understand and support her choice to marry him. If only they would give him a chance instead of judging him without getting to know him first.

Jane’s father

But what Jane didn’t know, was that her father actually had nothing to do with the hurtful text. For all that time, he thought Jane was the one who never wanted to speak to them again. But, being the loving and protective father he was, he decided he didn’t want to let her go. So, he hired a private detective.

He ordered the private detective to stake out her place and report back if something out of the ordinary happened. He also ordered the detective to follow Tom’s every move as soon as he left the house. If there were something sketchy going on about Jane’s husband, he would definitely find out.

Apologizing

Jane and Tom had no idea they were being watched, so they continued with their daily lives. Years passed, and Jane fell pregnant. Jane’s father found out about the happy news through the private detective he still had staking out their place. It was the final straw. He wanted to be in his grandchild’s life. He found a text too impersonal, so he decided to write her a letter and send it to her together with a bouquet of flowers and a little teddy bear.

The letter read: “My darling Jane, Please forgive me for whatever I have done to you to push you so far away.” The letter continued: “We haven’t spoken in a very long time, and throughout all those years, I have thought about you and missed you every single day. I hope you can ever forgive me, and that I can be a part of your growing family’s life. Love, Dad.”

Confused by the letter

Jane was very confused after reading the letter. She couldn’t understand why he would act so clueless about why they hadn’t talked in so long. Didn’t he expect this to happen after cutting her off? She desperately wanted to ignore the letter and never speak to her father again, but curiosity was gnawing at her.

She sat on the floor of her messy bedroom, staring at the letter in her hands with tears streaming down her face. Memories of her childhood with her father flooded her mind. She remembered how they used to go fishing every weekend and how he would always bring her a bouquet of flowers on her birthday. But then everything changed when he suddenly stopped coming around. She felt a mix of anger and sadness as she thought about how their relationship had turned out.

Meeting her father

She decided to meet up with her father to hear him out. They agreed to meet at a café because Jane wasn’t ready to let him into her house just yet. When she saw her father after all those years, her heart sank a little. He looked so much older, and she suddenly realized how much she had missed. They hugged each other, and sat down, both with tears in their eyes.

Jane couldn’t help but notice the way her father nervously fidgeted with his coffee cup, avoiding direct eye contact. She could tell that he was equally nervous about this meeting, knowing that he had a lot to make up for. As they sat across from each other, the silence between them seemed to grow thicker and heavier with each passing moment. Jane’s mind was racing, trying to figure out what to say to her father, afraid that any wrong move might ruin their chance for reconciliation. Despite the tension, a small part of her was glad that he had reached out to her after all these years.

He didn’t know, her mother lied

She couldn’t deny the fact that she had missed him too, despite the pain and anger she had carried with her all this time. “Jane, I…” her father began, but Jane interrupted him. She suddenly had a feeling she had to speak on. “Dad, did you know about the text?” she watched as her father frowned.

“What are you talking about?” Anger boiled up inside her as she realized her mother had lied to her. She explained everything to her father, who looked at her with sorrow. He was clearly hurt by what his wife had done to him. All this time, she had been the one who had pushed Jane away, and he never knew.

Reconnecting

They spent the whole day talking to each other, filling each other in on every little thing they had missed. Jane told him about her pregnancy, and that she was expecting a son in a few months. But her father had some unfortunate news: he was diagnosed with arthritis. But that diagnosis was one of the reasons he wanted to reconnect.

When Jane was on her way home after spending the day with her father, she felt a mix of emotions. She was happy they had made up, but she felt anger toward her mother. She couldn’t believe she would do something like that to her daughter and husband, all because she married a homeless man.

Tom wants to tell them

Tom immediately sensed Jane’s anger when she got home, so she told him everything. “You have to tell them the truth, Jane,” he said, knowing it would bring her family together again. “She doesn’t deserve to know!” Jane answered. “She didn’t only ruin her own relationship with me, but she ruined the relationship between me and my father as well!”

Suddenly, she had no idea who her mother was anymore. She had changed from a loving mother to an evil mother you would only read about in books. Jane vowed she would never speak to her again, not even if she would never beg for it. But her father, on the other hand, did deserve to know.
