Not Happy
Sheri Pearce had been expecting things to go well in the Pearce household after Cheryl convinced her to move in with her daughter and son-in-law.
Even though Cheryl helped them with household chores and grocery shopping, they were unhappy with other things. It all began with the food she was feeding their daughter.
Couldn’t Afford Her Rent
When Cheryl was no longer able to afford her rent, she moved in with her daughter Sheri. The woman had nowhere to go and could not afford to stay anywhere else.
In order to prevent her mother from becoming homeless, Sheri offered her a place in their cottage in the back garden. According to them, it was the ideal solution.
Every Day
In short, Cheryl basically took over the Pearce household as soon as she moved in. She spent every day in their house, despite living in the garden cottage.
In the mornings, she cleaned their house and prepared her beloved granddaughter Cailyn for school. It was a godsend for Sheri, but not for her husband, Camden.
Too Much
There would be a time when Cheryl would be moving all her belongings into his house, he thought. In no time at all, she had made herself at home.
Despite having her own cottage in the backyard, she now came over every single day, even though he didn’t mind her being there. Occasionally, she cooked their meals and did their laundry.
He Loved Her, But
Despite how much he loved his mother-in-law, he sometimes felt like she intruded on their privacy.
However, he kept his concerns to himself to avoid causing World War Three with his wife, Sheri. The only thing he wanted was peace in the household. It would eventually make sense for him to be concerned about Cheryl.
Everything Cailyn
A great deal of Cheryl’s time was spent immersing herself in their household. Knowing Sheri and Camden were hard workers, she wanted to do whatever she could to ease their burdens.
Then she volunteered to handle everything related to Cailyn. Having the best grandmother ever was something she aspired to.
Making Everything So Much Easier
Every morning and every afternoon, she picked Cailyn up from school. She was happiest when she was with her granddaughter. Additionally, she saved Sheri and Camden a lot of time.
The mornings weren’t delayed by that detour for Cailyn. Sheri didn’t have to take a break from work to pick her up from school.
Started To Go Awry
Her decision to stay with her mother was working out, and Sheri couldn’t be happier.
It all went awry after that. As soon as Cheryl began making Cailyn’s lunches for school, everything started to unravel. Despite its simplicity, the request would soon cause a huge controversy.
Cailyn’s Lunches
Every evening, Camden enjoyed making Cailyn’s lunches. Her fruit pieces were cut out in funny shapes for Cailyn, and she loved them. According to her, he made “the best lunches.”
But now, Cheryl had wormed her way in and took it upon herself to make the lunches. Sheri could foresee some heated exchanges that would soon take place.
Avoiding Conflict
It was better for Camden to let it go and do something else for his daughter instead of causing a conflict. Her grandmother’s presence was bringing her great joy, and he didn’t want to take away that joy.
Yet Cheryl began doing something that caused Camden to rethink letting go of his concerns.
A Surprise?
One afternoon, as Cheryl was preparing Cailyn’s lunch, Camden happened to pass by the kitchen. He caught a glimpse of his mother-in-law sneaking something into the lunchbox. His curiosity piqued, and he approached the counter and asked Cheryl what she was adding to the meal.
His curiosity piqued, and he approached the counter and asked Cheryl what she was adding to the meal.
Wasn’t Sure
But Camden wasn’t so sure. He let this one go as a first-time treat from Cailyn’s grandmother. He didn’t want to cause any trouble.
But he would be keeping an eye on Cheryl and what she was giving to his daughter. He didn’t want Cailyn to pick up any bad habits. She was doing so well in her sporting activities.
Sneaky Saturdays
He noticed that Cheryl had been taking Cailyn to the mall almost every Saturday as well.
As much as he welcomed some alone time with his wife for them to do whatever they wanted, he wondered what Cheryl was buying them for snacks and lunches. It bothered Camden to no end, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Disregarding The Rules
The Monday morning, he noticed Cheryl sneak something into Cailyn’s lunchbox again. This time, he was not going to let it slide.
This was one too many times now, and Cheryl had been taking too many liberties in their household. They still had rules for Cailyn to follow, and Cheryl was disregarding all of them.
Gut Instinct
Camden’s gut instinct told him that something wasn’t right. He had always been cautious about what his daughter ate, ensuring she had a balanced and healthy diet.
Seeing Cheryl’s secretive behavior raised red flags in his mind. Trying to maintain his composure, Camden calmly asked, “What exactly did you add to her lunch?” Cheryl froze.
